This category might as well have been called best Nathan and Haley kiss. They have so many great kisses, but we all agree the very first one was something special.

I love all of their kisses in the rain, but I have to pick Nathan and Haley’s first kiss as my favorite. It’s such a great scene. I love how Nathan surprises her and just goes for it, and Haley’s stunned response and pause before she kisses him back. It’s so nicely done and the music is a perfect fit.

This comes immediately to mind, partly because it’s the first kiss in one of my favourite TV romances and partly because I think it’s just generally very well done. I can’t hear the song used in this scene, “Dare You to Move” by Switchfoot, without immediately thinking of Nathan and Haley kissing outside her house, and that to me is a sign of a really excellent use of music. I also love the way Nathan and Haley are with each other: Nathan is so uncertain at first, and Haley seems so shocked. Then they just give in, and the rest is history.

It’s not only a great first kiss, but a great kiss. Nathan is a confident kid, but after he kisses Haley, he steps back and has this look of apprehension that we just don’t see from him. Haley is dazed and then does something that is one of my all time favorite things – she jumps back into his arms and kisses him again. I agree with Meaghan, I cannot hear “Dare You to Move” without thinking of this kiss.

Ain’t no party like a Tree Hill party, ’cause a Tree Hill party don’t stop. Tree Hill definitely knows how to party and there have been many memorable ones throughout the show’s run. Here we have chosen two that stood out the most!

Julie: The Post-Graduation Party in 4.21 – All Of A Sudden I Miss Everyone
I’m a sucker for nostalgic end-of-an-era moments and this party definitely delivers that. There are so many great bits: the return of Rachel, the “we made it” scene between Brooke and Peyton, Haley tossing her drink on Rachel’s pants after getting flicked in the back of the head, Nathan proudly showing off Jamie’s baby photo to everyone, and the totally awesome Wannabe dance. The final scenes of everyone playing at the River Court are some of my favorite in the whole show.

Meaghan: The Pre-Prom “Drink Deb’s Booze” Party in 4.14 – Sad Songs For Dirty Lovers
As I’ve already noted in this meme, Haley bitchslapping Rachel is one of my favourite Haley moments. It’s also one of my favourite moments in the entire series. That alone makes this one a winner. Add to it the reveal of the Nathan/Brooke sex tape and presto, instant classic OTH. The sex tape thing is such a great OMGWTFLMAO moment, if you see what I mean. Plus, the aftermath of the party is epic: the excellent Brooke/Peyton catfight and Haley’s hilariously hormone-crazed reactions to remembering what a man ho Nathan used to be.

Morgan: The Pre-Prom “Drink Deb’s Booze” Party in 4.14 – Sad Songs For Dirty Lovers
Haley bitchslaps Rachel while she is pregnant. There’s a sex tape. I think Peyton’s reaction to finding out Nathan had a sex tape hilarious when she thinks it’s with her. I think it’s safe to assume they must have made one, which leads me to wonder where it is. This is just my favorite One Tree Hill party. Everyone gets to have a little fun and the ending is a classic.

How are Nathan and Haley so awesome? It’s hard to explain or even understand, but somehow their relationship makes us feel better about the world. We love them so much that we all had a hard time picking just one favourite moment, but here’s what we came up with.

Julie: 3.17 – Who Will Survive, and What Will Be Left of Them?
I love all of the Nathan and Haley scenes in this episode, specifically the second scene with Nathan and Haley talking in bed. The harsh reality of the school shooting — that the people you love could be gone in an instant — gives Nathan a new perspective on his relationship. All the challenges he and Haley face don’t matter because they are together and they love each other.

Meaghan: 3.17 – Who Will Survive, and What Will Be Left of Them?
The loveliness of Nathan and Haley’s scenes in this episode is really effective juxtaposed against the ugly aftermath of the school shooting. During one of my favourite scenes, Nathan tells Haley that when he’s with her, the world seems better: “I can almost believe the world isn’t as screwed up as I know it is.” I also like the scene where they find the bedspread made of Karen’s wedding dress fabric, and this horrible tragedy becomes a tribute “to true love.” These moments really express what I find most remarkable about Nathan and Haley’s relationship: for whatever reason, their existence actually does make me feel hopeful.

Morgan: The Clippings in the Rain in 3.13 – The Wind That Blew My Heart Away
I feel like Haley was paying penance for going on tour until season seven, partly of her own choosing. But you knew in season two that Haley felt that she didn’t deserve to go back to Nathan. She left and thought he wasn’t proud of her. But he was and he clipped every article he could find about her and saved them all. Add to that a huge rainstorm and some sexiness on the hood of their car? It’s my favorite. Right now. It’s so hard to pick that if you ask me again in a few months, I will likely have a different answer.

There are a lot of fun road trips on One Tree Hill, but we all agree on our choice for favorite. No coincidence that we also all enjoy Chris Keller.

Julie: Trip to Honey Grove in 4.17 – It Gets the Worst at Night
This episode is just tons of fun and I like seeing everyone together on the trip. When Chris Keller appears I always think of the Futurama quote “This is, by a wide margin, the least likely thing that has ever happened.” But who cares — his appearance is hilarious and it’s great to have him back for an episode. I really enjoyed the retro clothes and the prom scenes as well.

Meaghan: Trip to Honey Grove in 4.17 – It Gets the Worst at Night
I enjoy this episode very much. It was nice that the gang got a non-sucky prom, and the retro clothes really add to the atmosphere. The scene at the prom where they talk to the Honey Grove teens about Tree Hill is hilarious. And hey, Chris Keller. The scene when his tour bus stops to pick them up is one of my favourite moments in the whole series. You can’t go wrong with Chris Keller.

Morgan: Trip to Honey Grove in 4.17 – It Gets the Worst at Night
I, too, want to see the sandwich shaped like Elvis. Seriously. I do. I just love this episode. This could have gone horribly wrong, given that it came about as part of a contest. It all goes wonderfully right, though. Not only do we get this great road trip to rescue Mouth, but everyone’s stories for the season move forward, so this isn’t a filler episode.

“He who does not weep does not see.” If you saw this episode, you wept.

Julie: 6.03 – Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly.
This is one of the saddest episodes I’ve ever seen of any show (and I watch a lot of sad TV). Quentin’s death was so sudden and senseless. Andre lining up with the team and putting on Q’s jersey at the funeral is just devastating to me, as is the ending with Brooke and Jamie draping the cape on the casket. Waaaahhhh!

Meaghan: 6.03 – Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly.
No contest. This one destroys me every time I watch it. I weep and weep and weep. I can’t even think about it without getting choked up. In fact, excuse me, I have to go cry now.

Morgan: 6.03 – Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly.
I wasn’t even that attached to Quentin, but seeing everyone mourn his death just really hit hard. The end, when Andre lines up with the Ravens, is when I start weeping. Every single time I cry. Then, to top it off, Jamie drapes the cape he and Haley made for Q over the casket. It’s all incredibly powerful.
