The Song Remains the Same

We’re all excited, right? Not only because the show is back, but because the opening credits are as well! We missed the Gavin DeGraw theme and the credits! As you may have read, after Gavin’s original made its return in week one, the theme will be covered by various musicians throughout the rest of the season. This includes Tree Hill regulars like Kate Voegele and Matthew Ryan, as well as Patrick Stump from Fall Out Boy and Aimee Mann. That got us thinking. Who would we like to see cover “I Don’t Want to Be”? Here is a list of ideas. Some more possible than others, we are sure.

This one seems obvious. The show is named after a U2 song, after all. So, why not have one of the greatest bands of all time (Meaghan would argue that they are the greatest) cover the song? We’re sure Bono would deliver some spectacular vocals.

Jay-Z, Kanye West, and Beyonce
This one is a little more out there and not really in line with the music the show usually plays, but it would certainly be unique. Harmonies from B, Jay and ‘Ye going at it. This would undeniably be a great way to start out an episode.

Ryan Adams
The music of Ryan Adams has had a presence on the show season season one. He’s been a regular fixture ever since. When Karen’s Cafe adds the map of various musicians and where they’re from, you see his name next to Haley’s. Adams is from North Carolina, so it’s even more fitting! He’d have a great take on this song.

Well, these are just a few ideas. We hope the covers used on the show end up on iTunes.

To Wish Impossible Things

The premiere of season eight is only hours away. We had a great time going through 30 Days of One Tree Hill, but now we look ahead. As you know from reading our recent posts, season seven was not our favorite. So, we have a wishlist! We hope these aren’t actually impossible things.

Season Eight Wishes:

  • Dan Scott left on a bus to God knows where. Well, now we’d like to know where. Bring back the Dantichrist!
  • Deb Scott. Or is it Lee now? Either way, we’d like an appearance from her.
  • Chris Keller was last seen in Honey Grove, TX and that felt like an ending. But imagine the possibilities of putting Chris Keller in a scene with Jamie Scott!
  • And on that note, Kanye West goes on tour with Chris Keller. The tour stops in Tree Hill. Amazingness ensues. Come on, you know you want it to happen.
  • Seriously, though, less screen time for minor characters. Key word is minor. That means long time characters like Mouth and Skillz, along with newer characters like Mia and Chase. As much as we love Alex, this also means her. So, you can skip the Mia/Chase/Alex triangle. As for Miranda and Grubbs, you don’t need them back. Especially not when they take the focus away from the main characters.
  • Brooke Davis cannot get married without P. Sawyer there. We’d also like to see Sam there. She is one of Brulian’s strongest supporters.
  • Brooke and Julian can adopt all the children in the world, but no miracle pregnancy — it would be too cheesy.
  • More Nathan and Haley as a couple. Yes, we mean that.
  • Nathan and Haley’s daughter should be named Julie Meaghan Morgan James Scott. ;)
  • At least one of our wonderful suggestions to be used as an episode title.

An unsettling rumor has emerged in the past twenty-four hours. It was first reported by E!, which cites an unnamed source close to the show. Representation for neither the show nor Bethany Joy Galeotti have confirmed or denied these reports. First things first, if Galeotti is indeed pregnant, we at It Was Just a Joke offer a hearty congratulations to her! Now, that unsettling rumor. What’s being reported is that, should the CW pick up the show for a full twenty-two episode season, Joy will not continue past the initial twelve episode order. One Tree Hill cannot exist without Bethany Joy Galeotti and her character, Haley James Scott.

Greetings. I hope there are people still reading this blog. We’ve been absent for over six months now. Real life gets in the way; I’m sure you understand. This is a post that I’ve been wanting to write for a while now. I’ve recently re-watched episode 4.10, Songs to Love and Die By and decided it was definitely time to write this post.

Hello! I thought it was about time I posted something on here. So far my co-webmistresses Julie and Morgan have done just about all the work on this site, so congrats to them on a great job!

I’m here to talk about a very important issue for One Tree Hill. That issue is Victoria’s quest for a lover. She seems to mention it almost every time she meets a man, and one can only imagine that she may be getting slightly desperate.

Well, she doesn’t need to feel that way any longer. Why? Because I have found the perfect man for her.
