The Song Remains the Same

We’re all excited, right? Not only because the show is back, but because the opening credits are as well! We missed the Gavin DeGraw theme and the credits! As you may have read, after Gavin’s original made its return in week one, the theme will be covered by various musicians throughout the rest of the season. This includes Tree Hill regulars like Kate Voegele and Matthew Ryan, as well as Patrick Stump from Fall Out Boy and Aimee Mann. That got us thinking. Who would we like to see cover “I Don’t Want to Be”? Here is a list of ideas. Some more possible than others, we are sure.

This one seems obvious. The show is named after a U2 song, after all. So, why not have one of the greatest bands of all time (Meaghan would argue that they are the greatest) cover the song? We’re sure Bono would deliver some spectacular vocals.

Jay-Z, Kanye West, and Beyonce
This one is a little more out there and not really in line with the music the show usually plays, but it would certainly be unique. Harmonies from B, Jay and ‘Ye going at it. This would undeniably be a great way to start out an episode.

Ryan Adams
The music of Ryan Adams has had a presence on the show season season one. He’s been a regular fixture ever since. When Karen’s Cafe adds the map of various musicians and where they’re from, you see his name next to Haley’s. Adams is from North Carolina, so it’s even more fitting! He’d have a great take on this song.

Well, these are just a few ideas. We hope the covers used on the show end up on iTunes.
